THE HOOVERWOOD REHABILITATION
TEAM PHYSICAL, OCCUPATIONAL AND
SPEECH THERAPY

Hooverwood's Department of Rehabilitation Services plays an integral role in maintaining our excellent reputation for providing the highest quality of care and services in the state of Indiana. The energetic "Rehabilitation Team" consists of Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists. Each therapist provides an assessment, implements a treatment plan, and offers education to the resident as well as the family/responsible party. The Team also works hand-in-hand with Hooverwood nurses, physicians, and social workers. The Therapy Department encourages the resident to reach his/her highest potential, maximize his/her function, and focus on independence. Upon completion of the Medicare A Rehabilitation Program, many Hooverwood residents successfully return to their homes.

RESTORATIVE NURSING PROGRAM
The "Restorative Nursing Program", implemented by trained nursing professionals, consists of exercise, range of motion and other restorative activities. The Rehabilitation Team completes an assessment of the resident, prepares an individualized program to meet that resident's current needs, and strives to maintain the resident's maximum level of functioning.

THE REHAB KITCHEN
Hooverwood's handicap-accessible "Rehab Kitchen" is designed to retrain residents in cooking and other household chores in preparation for their discharge to home.

THERAPEUTIC RECREATION
The purpose of Hooverwood's Therapeutic Recreation Department is to assist residents to pursue their own ideals of an active and fulfilling life at Hooverwood. The Therapy Department has developed activity programs to challenge and meet the leisure needs of the residents. Hooverwood is fortunate to have activity staff therapists for each of our five nursing units. This allows a chance for every resident to enjoy, participate, and become involved in the activities.

The Therapeutic Recreation Department prides itself in the wide array of activities that they are able to offer for the residents. Bingo, Pokeno, and card games are among the favorites of the residents and are offered on a weekly basis at Hooverwood. With the efforts of Hooverwood's transporter, residents are able to take scheduled trips to museums, concerts, theaters, department stores, restaurants, and much more. In addition, the frequent visits from the children at neighboring schools always brings a smile to a resident's face and joy to their day.

As a Jewish nursing home, we offer weekly Sabbath services, celebrate the Jewish holidays, and we uphold the traditions, customs and values of the Jewish religion. We welcome clergy from all religious backgrounds to provide spiritual comfort for our non-Jewish residents.
