"The Hooverwood Family"

In addition to Hooverwood's long reputation of being the finest nursing home in the State of Indiana, our Home is also recognized for it's volunteers and the wonderful "extras" that they provide to our Residents.

As our "Partners in Care,'' Hooverwood volunteers are true blessings and their time and dedication is so greatly appreciated by everyone.

Come join "The Hooverwood Family" and experience the mitzvah of volunteering for the elderly

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The Hooverwood Guild

The Guild operates the Hooverwood Gift Shop and Beauty Salon, provides entertainment during Sunday social hours, holds monthly birthday parties, and provides funds for outings, luncheons, and holiday parties. Join the Hooverwood Guild and volunteer your time in the Gift Shop, visiting new Residents upon admission, helping with Guild parties, etc., etc.

Recreational Activities
Whether it is visiting Residents who have no family, calling Bingo numbers, assisting with cooking groups, accompanying Residents on outings, running a craft group, or leading a sing-along, our Recreation Therapy Department needs your help. Fun, Fun, Fun !!!

Transportation
Many of Hooverwood's Residents are in wheelchairs and often need assistance to and from meals and activities. In addition, our Residents would love to have a volunteer take them on a wheelchair ride around the Jewish Community Campus.

Adult Day Services
This program serves the elderly who continue to live in the community but come to Hooverwood during the day for socialization, programming, etc. Volunteers are needed to assist the staff in a variety of ways including transportation, conducting recreational activities, lunch service, Outings, etc.

Medical Appointments
Volunteers are needed to accompany Residents to their physician appointments. Transportation is provided by Hooverwood. Volunteers familiar with St. Vincent Hospital, as well as the surrounding physician practices, wouId be perfect for this opportunity.

Clerical Support
Hooverwood is always in need of extra assistance with filing, Xeroxing, relieving the Receptionist at the front desk, answering the telephone at the nursing units, and other clerical duties.

SCHEDULES:

Volunteer schedules can be very flexible, but often depend on the scheduled time of the activity, function, or appointment that is taking place. Evening volunteer opportunities are also available.
